Having attended and taken the minutes at one of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross Party Groups, we realised that by offering our expertise we could act as a conduit and help bring together interested stakeholders and manage, on the Group’s behalf, an event in the Garden Lobby designed to support the advancement of initiatives for best practice in the management of a certain long-term condition.
Supporting the CPG secretariat, stakeholders and the sponsoring MSP, we helped supervise all aspects of the event, including drafting of the guest list which included patients, clinicians, patient groups and representatives. We also prepared speech points, the supporting briefing paper for all attendees and MSPs and advised on the event running order, media and news releases, as well as the photographer.
With our assistance, the Cross Party Group was able to concentrate on promoting its core objective: advancing access to treatment, services and support for the thousands of Scots suffering from the long-term condition. The event saw the Public Health Minister appoint a senior clinician to oversee efforts to improve care and also receive significant national and local media coverage.
